Alliance Theatre & Atlanta Opera unite for a fresh take on Fiddler through October 5th at Woodruff

This fall, two of Atlanta’s most celebrated arts institutions, Alliance Theatre and The Atlanta Opera, join forces to present a powerful new staging of the beloved musical Fiddler on the Roof. Running from September 4th to October 5th, 2025, this co-production promises a fresh, emotionally resonant interpretation of the classic tale, performed at the Alliance Theatre at Woodruff Arts Center.

🎶 A Story That Sings to the Soul

Set in a Jewish village on the brink of change, Fiddler on the Roof explores the enduring themes of family, tradition, and resilience. The production brings together talent from both the theatrical and operatic worlds, offering audiences a rich, multidisciplinary experience. Artistic Directors Tinashe Kajese-Bolden and Christopher Moses of Alliance Theatre describe the show as “a heartbeat passed down through time,” while Tomer Zvulun, Artistic Director of The Atlanta Opera, calls it “a mirror to humanity” and “a personal dream.”

🌟 Star-Studded Cast & Creative Team

Leading the cast is Itzik Cohen as Tevye, internationally known for his role in Netflix’s Fauda, alongside Debbie Gravitte as Golde, a Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway veteran. The ensemble features a dynamic mix of local and national talent, including:

  • Deborah Bowman as Grandma Tzeitel/Shandel
  • Joanna Daniels as Yente
  • Kylie Dickinson as The Fiddler
  • Coby Getzug as Motel
  • Maya Jacobson as Chava
  • Eli Mayer, Mia Pinero, Oliver Prose, Jeremy Radin, Rabbi Ron Segal, and Amanda Fallon Smith in supporting roles

The creative team is equally impressive, led by director Tomer Zvulun and music director Or Matias, known for Broadway’s Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812. Scenic design is by Alexander Lisiyansky, costumes by Vita Tzykun, lighting by Thomas C. Hase, sound by Dan Moses Schreier, choreography by Chloe Treat, and projections by Nicholas Hussong.

Complementing the production is a special exhibit at Atlanta’s Breman Museum, featuring works by costume designer Vita Tzykun and her father Arkady Tzykun, offering a deeper look into the visual storytelling behind the show.
